First check that your Chrysler steering rack can be replaced by a new unit. A simple check of the mounting points, the steering column coupling and the fluid port positions will soon reveal if there are any problems.
Match the Mounting Points First
Compare the mounting points and tie-rod ends on your new steering rack with those on your old rack. Left-hand threads and right-hand threads look similar. If your new steering rack is not to centre properly, it is likely due to an incorrect steering rack being installed.
Check the Steering Column Coupling
Make sure the spline or UJ coupling on the steering column of the new steering rack engages squarely with the input shaft of the rack. If not, the steering will become very stiff within a part of the total steering wheel turn. This problem will even get worse over time.

Before you bolt the steering rack up, make sure to check the subframe mounts as well as the rack bushes. If either of them is worn or cracked, it can cause problems with a new steering rack. These problems will show up as a vague feeling in the steering and wear on the steering rack itself.
Check Toe Geometry After Fitment
Finally check the toe in after having fitted the steering rack, as any difference in length of the tie rods of the old rack will pull the car and can only be compensated by adjusting the front toe in.
