Three Walks you Will Love in North Yorkshire

The countryside surrounding Yorkshire is known to be some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and is a firm favourite with walkers who want to take in the spectacular scenery and the fresh air of the region. If you are looking for things to do in Ripon and the surrounding area, a walk in the countryside should definitely be high up there on your list of must do things! Here are some of the best walks in North Yorkshire…

 

Kettlewell – This is a popular walk of around 4 miles in total. The surrounding countryside is beautiful as you cross the hills and walk along the pretty River Wharfe. Head across the bridge to Starbottom and you will find a pub for a refreshing drink before you head back.

The Devils Punchbowl – This is one of the most famous of the areas natural landmarks and if you start from Levisham and head along the stream you will reach the Punchbowl itself. It is also a great place to get a good view of the Flyingdales Radar Station – another of the fascinating landmarks that resembles some very large golf balls nestling in the countryside!

Falling Foss – If you enjoy being in the woods, take the walk to Falling Foss, the waterfall in the middle of the woodlands that could be part of a fairy-tale scene! There is even a café near the start of the route, so you can enjoy a cup of tea and a cake to fuel up for the walk ahead!
