What are the most common mental health conditions?

Over the last couple of years, more and more people have become aware of their own and others’ mental health. The pandemic has brought about a focus on ways in which we can look after ourselves from a number of different health angles. When it comes to finding out more about mental health, it is possible to attend Mental Health Training Courses like the ones that are available from Tidal Training. These types of courses can give you a good overall understanding of mental health, and there are also courses available that look specifically at certain conditions.

Here are some of the more common mental health conditions that people can experience.

Depression – this is often experienced as periods of extremely low mood and a loss of pleasure in activities and hobbies that the individual may have previously enjoyed. Physical symptoms that can be experienced include lack of sleep, difficulties in concentrating and issues with memory and motivation.

Generalised Anxiety – the main symptoms of this condition are intense feelings of worry and concern as well as some physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea and feeling restless and tired.

OCD – obsessive-compulsive disorder is more common than people think. It does not always manifest itself in the need to repeat tasks; it can be thoughts that do not go away and that cause distress. These thoughts can then cause rituals to be followed to help prevent the high levels of anxiety that can come alongside them.
